X-Ray Fluorescence Assaying Service
Pacific Precious Metals offers expert assaying services to gold and silver buyers, sellers and other customers. We use state-of-the art x-ray fluorescence analysis to determine the metal type and percent of total. We can identify elements of 16 different metals, including gold, silver, platinum and lead. Whether you are a gold bar buyer or silver coin seller, or if you want to understand the value of some old family jewelry, Pacific Precious Metals can provide an accurate assessment of the metal content. Located in Sausalito, just north of San Francisco, we welcome walk-ins.

If you desire lead testing, our x-ray fluorescence testing is the same method/technology that many state agencies in the US use to test toys and other items for lead. However, we are not a licensed lead tester and cannot provide official documentation.

Specific Gravity Testing
Testing precious metal items for specific gravity (density) can be a good secondary way of supporting the output of the x-ray fluorescence analysis. We can provide specific gravity testing any metal objects and the output will be the average density of the metals used to make the object. Limitations are objects that are hollow. We provide specific gravity tests for $2/items and only on items that have already been submitted to x-ray fluorescence testing.
