Authorized by Congress in 1996 and first minted in 1997, the American Platinum Eagle was the first and only official platinum coin from the U.S Mint. Platinum Canadian Maple Leaf

The Platinum Maple Leaf is the .9995 pure platinum bullion coin produced by the Royal Canadian Mint. First produced in 1988, it was minted yearly until 1999 when the rising cost of platinum caused a decrease in demand. The coin was produced one other year in 2002.
